Brazil has a population of almost 211 million (2018). Its population is expected to continue to grow to almost 226 million in 2030. Brazil is the fifth most populated country in the world. 

 

After an economic recession in 2015 and 2016, the economy (GDP) of Brazil is growing again since 2017 and is expected to grow further in the next years. After a period of crisis, confidence in the economy has returned, through which the business environment was more favorable in 2018. 

 

This is in turn favorable for both domestic and international travel. Based on figures from the ETC the number of outbound travellers to Europe can be estimated at 2.8 million in the future. Brazilians are travelling frequently. More than half of Brazilian travellers take three or more trips yearly.

 

In Brazil, there are almost 19,000 travel agencies, of which 60% issue international tickets. In 2017, total tourism expenditure of the Brazilian population was €16.8 billion. This is a growth of 28% compared to 2016. Brazil was ranked 24th in the top countries with highest international tourism expenditure.

 

Brazilian guests spent an average € 1,017 per person per stay. The average stay of Brazilian in the is 5 nights. Although shopping is naturally part of the activities involved in tourism travel, at the levels it has reached, even surpassing food and lodging expenses, they can hardly be considered in their entirety as tourism expenses.
